Flush mount linear LED light fixtures are currently among the most popular LED lighting options. Their simple installation process and aesthetic appeal after installation make them well-liked by many. Flush mount LED lights are commonly chosen for various places such as homes, schools, offices, gyms, etc. So, how should you install them?
1. Prepare the Necessary Tools and Materials:
Before starting the installation, make sure you have all the required tools and materials. This may include screwdrivers, wire strippers, wire connectors, a voltage tester, and, of course, the flush mount linear LED lighting fixture itself. Check the manufacturer's instructions for any specific tools or materials needed.
2. Disconnect Power:
Before working with electrical components, it's crucial to turn off the power to the area where you'll be installing the fixture. Locate the circuit breaker controlling the power to the existing or new fixture area. Set the switch to the "Off" position and use a voltage tester to ensure the power is indeed off.
3. Remove Existing Fixture:
If you're installing a new flush mount linear LED lights for ceiling, you can proceed to the next step. If replacing an old fixture, remove the previous one by unscrewing most of the screws. Support the fixture with your hand to prevent it from falling. Once the circuit is disconnected, remove the remaining screws to take down the old fixture.
4. Install Fixture Mounting Bracket:
Most flush mount linear LED lighting fixtures come with a mounting bracket that needs to be installed first. Use the provided screws to secure the mounting bracket to the electrical box on the ceiling. Ensure the bracket is securely attached and leveled.
5. Connect Wires:
Next, connect the wiring of the new flush mount linear LED lighting fixture to the wires in the ceiling. If necessary, strip the insulation from the ends of the wires. Then, pair the corresponding wires (black to black, white to white, green, or bare copper to ground) and twist them together. Secure the connections using wire nuts or connectors. For added safety against electrical leakage, wrapping a layer of insulating tape is advisable.
6. Test Installation:
Before finalizing the installation, turn the power back on and test the flush mount linear LED lighting fixture. If it doesn't turn on, carefully check the connections and ensure the power has been correctly restored. If everything is in order, turn off the power again and proceed to the final step.
7. Secure All Loose Ends:
Lastly, secure any loose ends and tidy up the installation. This may involve tucking excess wires into the electrical box, installing a decorative cover plate (if available), and ensuring all screws and connections are tight.
These are the basic steps for installing flush mount linear LED fixtures. By following these steps, you can easily complete the installation, bringing bright illumination and a more comfortable environment to your space.
